Honouring Service, Supporting Wellbeing
Remembrance Day
Each year on 11 November, Australians pause to remember those who have given their lives while serving Australia in wars, armed conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
Serving our country is an honourable commitment.
We honour all our ADF members and veterans – those who have fallen, those we have lost at home, and those who continue to serve and defend our country.
The Defence and Veterans’ Service Commission is committed to improving suicide prevention and wellbeing outcomes for ADF members and veterans who live with impacts of military life. The Commission was established as a result of the key recommendation of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide and will independently monitor the Government’s progress in implementing reforms that address systemic issues contributing to suicide and suicidality.
Remembrance Day serves as a national moment of reflection. It reminds us why this work matters. We recognise the enduring impacts of service – during times of conflict and at home – for our ADF members, veterans and their families. Behind every name, every medal and memory is a story of resilience, and a continuing need for recognition, understanding and support.
