Royal Commission recommendations

The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide was established to look into the high rates of suicide in the Australian Defence and veteran community and make recommendations to the Australian Government.

The Royal Commission delivered its Interim Report on 11 August 2022, and its Final Report on 9 September 2024. 

On 2 December 2024, the Australian Government announced its response to the final report. The Government accepted the majority of the Royal Commission’s recommendations:

The Defence and Veterans' Service Commissioner is responsible for monitoring, inquiring into, and reporting on the Australian Government's implementation of the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
